Tom Bambergers work is about revealing truth. In Tom's mind the more beautiful a picture is the more truthful it is. In his work he is attempting to manipulate to photograph in order to make it more beautiful. In doing this he believes that he is revealing truth to people who view his art.
What are some art making strategies that he uses?
Bamberger uses repetition in his work; he will take a singular aspect of an image say a windmill and repeat it over and over again in his work. Another strategy he uses is to make it seamless with the rest of the landscape (thus preserving the medium). Even though we see 100 windmills the way they are placed, and the detail he uses in blending the various parts makes it appear to be something that you could in theory see in real life.
What is reality?
In my opinion reality can be broken into two different categories. The first one (and their is only one) is the actual reality. The actual reality consists of the physical mater and that matter is governed by consistent rules (such as those explored in physics). This reality supersedes all other realities (which ill get to in a moment). Whenever their is a conflict with a lesser reality and the actual reality, the actual reality will take president. The other kind of reality is a perceived reality. These can be as numerous as as their are individuals that have the capability of perception. While the actual reality is precent individuals can disregard what is present in actual reality in place of something more desirable in perceived reality. This of course does not mean that actual reality has ceased to exist, but to the individual it may seem that it does not exist. For example an individual chooses to perceive that there has never been clouds in the sky. To that individual this is reality regardless if there are clouds or not. This type of perceived reality is benign and will have little impact on the individual. However lets say that person doesn't believe that bullets exist. If a bullet is coming at that individual actual reality will take precedent and their could be harm the individual. This type of perceived reality is a malignant form of perceived reality.
